I'm a long time Terry Pratchett fan. Right now I'm busy (well, technically, since I haven't taken the time to read lately) with a co-written book:

Last cover-to-cover read? Catch-22. Not posting school textbooks because, well, that's no fun.

Engineering has sort of beat that out of me with a large stick. I did read "The Art of Racing In The Rain" over the summer. It was alright - nothing special. Nice, but I could totally call most of the plot twists and turns from a mile away.

The news.
Haven't had time for a good book in ages.

The Hobbit.
Never read it when I was younger because I hated the fact that it is written like you'd tell a story to a child, but I really enjoyed it this time round. Might try the adventures of Tom Bombadil next.

I've been reading Andrew Vachss "Burke" series. I think there are 18 books in total and I'm on book 16, called Mask Market.

Have you read The Road by Cormac McCarthy?
It is absolutely fantastic.
Highly recommend.

This is my favorite book of all time. I absolutely love it.
“Major Major’s father was a sober God-fearing man whose idea of a good joke was to lie about his age. He was a longlimbed farmer, a God-fearing, freedom-loving, law-abiding rugged individualist who held that federal aid to anyone but farmers was creeping socialism. He advocated thrift and hard work and disapproved of loose women who turned him down. His specialty was alfalfa, and he made a good thing out of not growing any. The government paid him well for every bushel of alfalfa he did not grow. The more alfalfa he did not grow, the more money the government gave him, and he spent every penny he didn’t earn on new land to increase the amount of alfalfa he did not produce. Major Major’s father worked without rest at not growing alfalfa. On long winter evenings he remained indoors and did not mend harness, and he sprang out of bed at the crack of noon every day just to make certain that the chores would not be done. He invested in land wisely and soon was not growing more alfalfa than any other man in the county. Neighbors sought him out for advice on all subjects, for he had made much money and was therefore wise. “As ye sow, so shall ye reap,” he counseled one and all, and everyone said, “Amen.””

Right now I am reading Olympos, it's the follow-up book to Illium, by Dan Simmons. They were recommended to me by someone on Oppo, I am really enjoying them.

Rereading the Age of Fire series. One of my favorites. Also reread the Inheritance Cycle. Good Dragon literature is hard to find.

I re-read most of Elmore Leonard's stuff when he died. Definitely my favorite author ever. Even his bad books are still hugely entertaining. Get Shorty remains the most entertaining book I've ever read, and I'll probably name my first born son 'Raylan'.
I've kind of exhausted all my favorite authors, so I'm trying out new stuff. I'm almost done with my first Steven King book now. Coming from the author of Lawnmower Man , I expected it to be cheesy as hell, but it's turned out to be the best book I've read in a long time. It's called The Stand . It's a million pages long, and has some weird religious overtones, but it's a damn fine piece of writing.

Been reading Metro 2033. There's a popular video game based on the book but the book is just 10x better. It's about people living in Russias underground subway system post nuclear war.

I just read this book this summer and it was awesome! I think if my teachers had us read interesting old books, and didn't add in a bunch if bs, then kids would actually enjoy reading

I've just finished up with this, as an audio book. I've been listening to a lot of books on CD lately, as I spend an inordinate amount of time in my car. I'm currently listening to a book on WWII, and reading the last part of the Return of the King.
